The Xiamen Financial Centre is a 212m tall, 86,640 sqm exchange tower located in the C&D district of Xiamen.

Following the success of the C&D International Tower, Gravity was asked by the mayor of Xiamen to enter a competition to design the city’s new financial centre. With greater scope for aesthetic experimentation available, Gravity’s winning design was inspired by natural ice formations and glaciers.

Intended to be a sister to the C&D International Tower, the Financial Centre was designed to be more organic in appearance. The jagged edges and irregular surfaces give the building a more unsculptured form, much like natural ice.

The tower’s interior is more conventional in design and was developed to evenly distribute traffic throughout the entire structure. The base of the site continues this concept with a sunken plaza and underground walkways, connecting the centre to the C&D tower, the shoreline and the surrounding area.
